Get Your Mindset Right!
I’ve been guilty of not consistently posting on social media to grow my business, although I always recommend that my clients do so to see massive results. I know that creating great content consistently can change your business! It’s not always an easy thing to overcome the feelings that come with putting yourself out there online. While I can help clients create content easily, when it comes to creating it for myself, it has been challenging. When it comes to asking for that seed content from clients, they can also hit that wall. This is where you just have to push through and feel uncomfortable in the creation of the content. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just start, and don’t worry about how you look! I think everyone goes through this and it doesn’t change until you start.
Persistency is King
One of my favorite hobbies is tending to succulents and plants. I love to watch them grow! It amazes me that just a bit of growth every day results in new baby plants or a flower exploding into bloom.
I believe that when we put our attention on a desired result it’s as though we are plants. That little bit everyday is worth it. Every action is like a stitch in a tapestry. If you start skipping days the image will never be completed.
Some say content is King. While I do agree that creating high quality content can get great results, I believe persistency is king. What you publish doesn’t have to be great the first time you post. You can always improve on your posting quality and learn new tricks while you get your feet wet.
Making a minimum posting schedule you can commit to consistently is key to having consistent results.
What is Quality Content?
While your content doesn’t have to be perfect, it is best if it provides value to your audience. If you consider your audience and what would help them, this is a great frame of mind to start creating value able content.
- Answer Common Questions In Your Industry
- Provide Tips
- Create a How-To
- Create a What I wish I knew when I started
- Create an enjoyable experience in your content with images and graphics
- If you already have an audience, look at their comments and address them in a post. If not, look in forums like Quora or Reddit for people that have questions related to your business and answer those in a post.
- Title the article something that is likely to be searched in Google.
Create a Plan
Put together a plan of the posts that you’re interested in creating. This makes the entire process so much easier because you now have a list at your fingertips to choose from.
While a little every day is the best way to get longterm results, you may want to start with a deep dive into content creation. If you can block off a few days to a week and set a goal of how much content you would like to create in that time, you can learn significantly from doing this and get past blocks that may have made the task challenging. You will also have several weeks of content ready to go and be less likely to get behind in your posting schedule.
The sooner you put your seeds in the ground the sooner you will be able to reap the rewards. Remember, that just like plants, content creation will likely take time to develop and ripen to produce fruit.
